There’s not much more to life than Disney, we’ll admit, but Walt Disney World Resort still has a few tricks up its sleeves for those who want to try something a little different.

The great outdoors

There’s Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks of course, but there’s fun to be had ON the water as well as IN it. At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds it’s buyer’s choice – rent either a canoe or a kayak and enact your own version of Steamboat Willie through lakes, lagoons and bays.

If it’s dry land you’re after, live your childhood dream by renting a golf cart. Alternatively, you can give horseback riding a whirl – explore the ranches that house Cinderella’s ponies before taking part in a trail ride. Giddy up!

Get your sport on

At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort you can climb aboard a 13-foot catamaran. A catama-what-now, you ask? Simply speaking, the difference between a boat and a catamaran is that a catamaran has two hulls instead of one, connected by a platform. Now, that's what we call proper sailing.

If you like to stay active even on holiday (we salute you!), individual and team sports are top of the agenda for any Disney holiday, with – to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas - eight volleyball, seven tennis, and five basketball courts on site. Wowee!

FORE!

Being located in the sunshine state of Florida, there’s one thing in particular we’d better mention: golfing. The Floridians sure do love their five irons and drivers and er, what’s the other one? Anyway, there are four different courses at Walt Disney World - Magnolia, Palm, and Lake Buena Vista with 18 holes, and Oak Trail has 9. Strictly 18 and over, sorry kids, it's for the serious grown ups only. What the kids can get in on, however, are the two miniature golf courses on site.

Over at EPCOT there’s the Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, while at Blizzard Beach Water Park it’s the Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course – this one has a summer sand course and a winter snow course. Fun!

And relax...

This all sounding very…active, isn’t it? But the magic of Disney extends to a spot of relaxation too.

Rent a cabana at Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but remember that at least one guest must be 18 or over! Do your best lizard impression on your padded lounge chair or cool down in the shade with your 32-inch TV, fan, and stocked mini-fridge. These pool-side havens are the place to go to while away the hours.
