• How to get to Manchester Airport

  By car

  Head to the airport via the M56 – easy to get to from M6, M60, and M62. The postcode you’ll want to whack into your satnav is M90 1QX, but keep your wits about you as the layout has changed recently and your satnav could get turned around!

  By train

  It’s dead easy to get to the airport via train. Trains run from Manchester Piccadilly every ten mins or so, and they’ll drop you off smack-bang in the heart of the airport, making it a breeze (if a bit of a walk) to get to any of the three terminals. The journey to the airport will take around 20 mins, and cost about £4.20 for an Off-Peak ticket (this may change, check before you travel).

  Headed the opposite way? Hop on a train from the airport station to Manchester Piccadilly and then you can grab a seat on long distance services to Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, and Glasgow – nae bad! Full train times can be found on National Rail, including any engineering works.

  By tram

  Another handy option is the tram! Services to the airport run from over 90 stops in the Greater Manchester area including Altrincham, Bury, Ashton-under-Lyne, East Didsbury, Eccles and Rochdale. You can check journey times with TFGM before you travel.

  By bus and coach

  National Express offers frequent coach travel to the airport from a load of destinations around the UK. Prices and journey times can be found here.

  Stagecoach buses run between Manchester Airport and the city centre 24 hours a day, so they’re a good option if you’ve got awkward flight times. The journey will take you around 35 mins, so just a bit longer than grabbing a train.

  By taxi

  ‘Black cab’ taxies operate from outside the terminal building, alongside numerous private hire companies like Uber. A trip from the airport to the city will cost you around £30 for 4 passengers.

• Can you park at Manchester Airport?

  We don’t just do cheap flights, you know! You can arrange car parking at Manchester Airport through us too! Most car parks are within walking distance, or they include free transfers – just make sure to choose the car park closest to the terminal you’re flying from!

• Is it free to drop off / pick up?

  Manchester Airport recently introduced a fee for drop off immediately outside the terminals and train station - £5 for five mins, or £6 for ten mins. Don’t go beyond ten mins, though – they’ll whack you with an overstay charge £25!
  
  That being said, if you're all about the long goodbye (and don't mind grabbing a free shuttle bus to the terminals), there's a free drop-off point about a mile away on Thorley Lane, next to the JetParks 1 car park (you'll spot the signs if you're driving in from the M56).
  
  Pick-ups have to be in one of the short-stay, arrivals, or multi-storey carparks, which'll cost you £6 for 30 mins.

• Is there a smoking area?

  You’ll only be able to light up outside the arrivals area, before passing through security. After that, it’s a fully smoking-free zone, and yes, that includes e-cigarettes and vapes!

• How long do I need to be at Manchester Airport before my flight?

  You'll need to check in at Manchester Airport at least 2 hours before your flight. It can vary by airline, though, so check your ticket details.

• Is there an airport lounge?

  Yes - there's two, actually!
  
  The Escape Lounge has freshly prepared hot and cold food, as well as all your beers, wines and spirits (fizz too!) There's free WiFi and plenty of charging points throughout. You can find one in all three terminals, and access comes free with any Business or First Class ticket. If you're flying in another class, you can prebook your spot from £31.99pp.
  
  The 1903 lounge is the slightly swankier one - a lil' more exclusive and sophisticated. There's bespoke daily food menus, free premium bevs (as well as handpicked wines, Champagne and craft beers). Free WiFi is included - obvs! But the pièce de résistance? That's gotta be the mega floor-to-ceiling windows with perfect plane views! • Terminal 1: Things to do

  Bars, cafes and restaurants

  You’ve got 12 bars and restaurants to play with in Terminal 1, including Giraffe, Café Balzar and Joe’s Kitchen. And a Greggs too, of course!

  Shops and duty free

  As well as duty-free, you’ve got run-of-the-mill stuff like Dixons, Next and Boots, as well some of the fancier stuff like Jo Malone London, Hugo Boss, and Bobbi Brown.

  Family facilities

  If you’ve got a child in a pram, lucky you! You get to make use of the free Fast Lane at security!

  Make light work of nasty nappies with baby changing facilities available across the terminal. They include a chair for private breastfeeding if you need it, but it’s good to know that Manchester Airport operates an open policy for breastfeeding, with zero restrictions on where mum chooses to do it. Giraffe and Joe’s Kitchen in Terminal 1 will heat baby milk behind the counter if you need it, too!

  Prayer rooms

  Terminal 1 multi-faith prayer rooms can be found next to the Chaplaincy’s main office at Ground Level Check-In and at Gate 20 after security. Daily Prayers (Christian) are held Monday – Friday at 08:30.

  Hotels and sleeping pods

  The Hilton, Radisson Blu, Clayton and Crown Plaza are all within walking distance of the terminal, making catching some Zzz’s easy-peasy.

• Terminal 2: Things to do

  Bars, cafes and restaurants

  There’s a bunch of bars and restaurants in Terminal 2, including Pret, Starbucks, Archie’s and Wagamama.

  Shops and duty free

  Outside of duty-free, there isn’t much in the way of luxury offerings in Terminal 2, but you’ve still got your usual suspects, like Dixons, JD Sports and Boots.

  Family facilities

  As in Terminal 1, you can make use of the free Fast Lane access at security if you have a child in a pram. There’s plenty of baby changing facilities across the terminal too, which include a chair for private breastfeeding if you need it, but Manchester Airport operates an open policy for breastfeeding, with zero restrictions on where mum chooses to do it. Giraffe and Joe’s Kitchen in Terminal 1 will heat baby milk behind the counter if you need it, too!

• Terminal 3: Things to do

  Bars, cafes and restaurants

  You’ve got a good mix of nosh in Terminal 3, including The Lion and Antelope, KFC, and The Nook.

  Shops and duty free

  Shops include duty-free, as well as Dixons, WHSmith, Boots, and Biza.

  Family facilities

  If you’ve got a child in a pram, you can make use of the free Fast Lane access at security – nice one! There’s baby changing facilities across the terminal too. They’ve got a chair for private breastfeeding if you want it but Manchester Airport operates an open policy for breastfeeding, with zero restrictions on where mum chooses to do it. Trattoria Milano in Terminal 3 will heat baby milk behind the counter.

  Prayer rooms

  The Terminal 3 multi-faith prayer room is located below Departures and above Arrivals, near to Spar. Islamic prayers are held in the Terminal 3 Prayer Room Friday at 13:00 GMT or 13:30 BST.
