How to get to Stansted Airport

By car

Drive to Stansted Airport via the M11 motorway. Use Junction 8a if approaching from London, or Junction 8 if approaching from Cambridge. The airport is clearly signposted along the route - the postcode is CM24 1RW.

By bus or coach

Stansted Airport has its own dedicated bus and coach station just a 2 minutes walk from the terminal. The bus station is directly connected to the Underground and key London train stations including London Paddington, Victoria, Liverpool Street and Stratford.

You can also pre-book airport transfers with National Express and Airport Bus Express - so even if you're not in London, you can still enjoy cheap flights from Stansted!

By train

The easiest way to get to Stansted Airport by train is to catch the Stansted Express from London Liverpool Street in central London directly to Stansted airport.
Trains run to and from Stansted Airport from 04:30 to 00:30. The journey takes about 50 minutes each way.
Can you park at Stansted Airport?

Yes. There are several car parks at Stansted Airport, each with varying prices and distance from the airport:

Short Stay - ideal for weekend breaks and business trips, with a 1-10 minute walk to check in.

Mid Stay - for trips up to a week long, just a few minutes' away via free shuttle bus.

Long Stay - parking for 7 days or longer. Free shuttle bus transfers to the terminal run every 15 minutes.

Meet & Greet - get your vehicle parked for you! Simply drive up to the terminal and hop out with your luggage.

Valet service - Pull up outside the terminal and come home to a clean car. The ultimate convenient and stress-free car parking option!
Is it free to drop off / collect passengers?

Yes. The Mid Stay car park offers a free drop off and pick up option for 60 minutes. It's a decent deal considering the free shuttle bus runs to the terminal every 15 minutes.

Wanna be closer to the terminal? You'll pay for the privilege - Express Set Down is located just outside the terminal and costs £7 for 15 minutes. Or, get 30 minutes for £10 at the Short Stay car park, which is just a few minutes' walk from the terminal.
Is there a smoking area?

Lighting up landside - a.k.a. before security - yes. But once you get airside - that is, after security - there are no smoking facilities.
Shopping at Stansted Airport

Shop some of your favourite stores at Stansted. With an expansive duty free area, there are staples and luxuries aplenty tax-free. Plus you've got bookshops, a toy shop, clothing stores and designer outlets like Ted Baker, BOSS and Mulberry.
