Fun for everyone
For cheap flights to the Bahamas, fly into Nassau on Providence Island. Before heading somewhere else, make sure to explore the Queen’s Staircase, located in downtown Nassau. In the northern outskirts of Nassau lies the impeccable Atlantis Bahamas Resort, perfect for a romantic getaway with your partner or an unforgettable waterpark holiday with the kids. Visit the state-of-the-art Paradise Island Water Park to see an array of marine life habitats featuring eels, sharks and piranhas or enjoy a relaxing massage in one of their many spas. On Eleuthera Island, take the Queen’s Highway to the Glass Window Bridge, a narrow strip of land that creates a stark contrast between the rough Atlantic Ocean and the tranquil, crystal waters of the Exuma Sound. Nature-lovers should visit the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, which is known for Bahamian flora, such as delicate orchids and sprawling mangroves.
Rock the boat
Take a cruise or an island tour in a small boat from Nassau to Bimini or the Abacos for hiking, historical monuments and scenic landscapes. Enjoy snorkelling and spear fishing during your boat trip. You can even swim with wild pigs if you’re feeling adventurous. In addition to getting a unique view of all the islands, you can also gain access to many of Bahamas’ private islands during a boat tour. Travel to private islands like Blue Lagoon for the amazing views from McCutcheon’s Tower or swim with dolphins.
When to go
If you find yourself in Bahamas on December 26th or January 1st, be ready for Junkanoo. With a parade, masquerade party and more, this festival begins at 2:00am and lasts until daybreak each day. Each island has their own special variation of Junkanoo, but the largest festival takes place in Nassau.
From April to early December, you’ll likely be able to find cheap flight options, since it’s right before the winter months. Score last minute deals with ease when you book toward the end of April or in September. Keep in mind that the islands see an increase in rainfall from May to October, so be sure to pack appropriate clothing if you’re visiting during those months.
The peak tourist seasons in the Bahamas last from Christmas until the beginning of January and from March to mid-April. Flights tend to be expensive, and accommodations are often booked far in advance. For a Bahamian winter holiday or an Easter escape, be sure to plan ahead to get the best deals.

Many European and North Americans take their holidays during the winter months, so booking in advance is recommended during these months. If you’re booking flights last minute, consider looking for Bahama flights before Christmas or sometime between mid-January and mid-February to avoid high prices. Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic all service departures out of London. Many flights from the United Kingdom require stopovers in cities, such as Miami, Atlanta, Paris or Toronto. If this is the case for you, consider splitting your holiday between multiple locations; it may even save you money in the long run.
