Flight prices vary month to month, and depend on where in the country you’re flying from, but to get the best deal on a flight from the UK to Tenerife it’s generally advisable to book at least five weeks in advance.

When is the cheapest time to visit Tenerife?

Tenerife is a popular year-round holiday destination. It’s particularly busy over the winter months, when tourists flock to take advantage of the warm weather, and during school holidays. The cheapest months to visit tend to be November, March and April – excluding Easter.

When is Tenerife weather best?

Known as the Island of Eternal Spring, Tenerife weather is famously warm all year round. Average summer temperatures are around 26-28°C, and even in the middle of winter it rarely dips below 15°C.

Which airlines fly to Tenerife?

British Airways, Iberia, easyJet, Ryanair, Norwegian, Jet2 and Aer Lingus all fly direct from the UK to Tenerife.

How many airports does Tenerife have?

There are two airports on Tenerife – Tenerife South (also known as Reina Sofia Airport) and Tenerife North (formerly known as Los Rodeos). All direct flights from the UK arrive into Tenerife South Airport. Located in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife South Airport (TFS) is about 60 kilometres from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Tenerife North Airport (TFN) is in San Cristobal de La Laguna, about 11 kilometres west of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Smaller than Tenerife South Airport, it’s mainly used for flights to/from the Spanish mainland and the other Canary Islands.

Bus line 343 offers a direct service between Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport. Travel time is approximately 50 minutes.

How do I get from Tenerife South Airport into Tenerife?

A number of local buses depart from Tenerife South Airport. Routes 111 and 711 link the airport to both Santa Cruz de Tenerife and most of the major beaches on the island, while routes 40, 343 and 450 all go to Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. Route 415 connects Tenerife South Airport with some of the urban centres in the south of the island, including Golf del Sur. The cost and length of the bus journey depends on your destination.

Alternatively, you can get a metered taxi from the rank outside Arrivals. Approximate fares are €100 to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, €30 to Costa Adeje, €28 to Playa de Las Americas and €85 to Tenerife North Airport. Fares are higher between 10pm and 6am on weekdays, as well as on Sundays and public holidays.

How do I get from Tenerife North Airport into Tenerife?

Bus route 20 runs between Tenerife North Airport and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, stopping in San Cristobal de La Laguna en route, while route 30 runs west from the airport, towards Puerto de La Cruz. To reach the beach resorts around Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, you’ll need route 343.

Many hotels offer private transfers from the airport or, if you fancy driving yourself, you can pick up a hire car from one of the rental desks at Tenerife North Airport. Compare prices and book in advance to ensure you get the best deal.

What are the top things to do in Tenerife?

Most Tenerife holidays centre on the beach – and Tenerife beaches are certainly worth a visit – but there’s more to it than just its beautiful 400-kilometre coastline. UNESCO World Heritage-listed Teide National Park spans much of the interior of the island. Spain’s most popular national park, its dramatic lunar landscape is dominated by the country’s highest peak – Mount Teide. Adrenaline-seekers should head to one of Tenerife’s water parks – Aqualand Costa Adeje and the incredible Siam Park are both located close to Playa de las Américas. The resort town of Los Gigantes and the small mountain village of Masca both offer spectacular views, while La Laguna – with its historic town centre and pretty streets – is widely considered the most beautiful town in Tenerife.

Do I need a visa to travel to Tenerife?

British passport holders don’t need a visa to travel to any country in the EU – you can stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. You just need to make sure that your passport has at least six months validity left, on the day you travel.
