What to expect on your Phuket holiday
Encircled by turquoise waters and blonde beaches, Phuket – Thailand’s biggest island – is a real treat. And the island’s size is undoubtedly part of its appeal. In Phuket, there’s always something going on – whatever you’re into. You can unwind on a quiet stretch of sand, visit peaceful temples, or party all night long. On a holiday to Phuket, you can do everything or nothing – the choice is yours.
Beach lovers can relax in the sunshine, or venture into the sea with a snorkel and flippers to discover Thailand’s underwater world. When you fancy a break from the beach, there’s plenty to do. You can visit Wat Chalong temple, or climb up to Phuket’s famous Big Buddha – this gigantic marble statue is visible from almost anywhere in the southern half of the island. If you’re planning to take the kids to Phuket, make sure you also add Phuket FantaSea to your to-do list. This family-friendly theme park has theatrical shows, fireworks and more.
If you want to party on your Phuket holiday, you’ll be spoilt for choice. In fact, Patong Beach is one of Thailand’s most notorious nightlife hubs. The whole place is crammed with bars and clubs but – if you want to be right in the thick of it – head to Bangla Road. Along this 400-metre stretch, street food stalls and restaurants rub shoulders with cabaret bars, pubs and nightclubs. The beach end of Bangla Road is all about easy-going bars, while the other end boasts some of the best superclubs in Thailand.
