Getting over your ex
Thailand
Perfect for the solo traveller with so many different things to do up and down the country. Bangkok is busy, loud, and it’ll hit you like a double shot of espresso – in the best way. Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand’s answer to the hustle, is a bit calmer but still packs a punch. Temples, night bazaars, and nature encounters galore.
Then you’ve got all the islands. God, the islands. Phuket‘s the most famous and makes Ibiza look tame, Krabi is a little less mad, but still gorgeous – think limestone cliffs and emerald waters. Koh Samui is for when you’re after luxury vibes but still want to slurp noodles at a beach shack, whilst Koh Phangan is famous for its Full Moon Party – and serene beaches for the morning after.
Australia
Sydney is Australia’s poster child – home to the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and beaches like Bondi. Melbourne is all laneway cafes, artsy graffiti, and coffee so fancy you’ll need a dictionary to order. Don’t miss the Great Ocean Road for cliff-hugging views, or Phillip Island for penguins.
Hit up Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef—where you’ll meet fish flashier than your local nightclub. Oh, and Daintree Rainforest. The Northern Territory is for seeing Uluru at sunrise and Kakadu National Park, which is like walking into a David Attenborough doc. Perth’s laid-back vibes pair well with Rottnest Island’s quokkas, and South Australia is all about wine, wine, and more wine – Barossa Valley is the crown jewel.

Mauritius
Mauritius is basically the Beyoncé of honeymoon destinations—stunning, flawless, and photogenic from every angle. To the north you’ve got Grand Baie for nightlife, shopping, and swanky beaches. Meanwhile, Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is full of giant water lilies and tropical plants – perfect for nature lovers. The east coast brings powdery beaches, watersports galore, and Blue Bay Marine Park – a snorkeler’s paradise.
Down south, Le Morne offers epic kite surfing against a UNESCO-worthy mountain backdrop and Chamarel’s Seven-Coloured Earth. The west coast balances chill beaches at Flic en Flac with adrenaline hits at Casela Nature Park. Port Louis has markets bustling with local street food (dholl puris for days), colonial architecture, and a history lesson or two.
Grenada
Saint George’s is where you’ll find the beating heart, bustling markets, and a splash of colonial charm. Go posh at Grand Anse Beach, one of the best in the world. Annandale Waterfall is cooler than your fridge in January and surrounded by lush rainforest. For a more off-the-beaten-path vibe, trek to Black Bay Beach where volcanic black sands meet Caribbean blue.
The Grand Etang Forest Reserve is Grenada’s green, mountainous wonderland. Hike to crater lakes and dodge mischievous monkeys. Hop on a boat to Carriacou for laid-back beaches, clear-as-glass snorkelling, and fewer crowds. Then take the short ride to Petite Martinique, where life’s so simple you’ll wonder why you bother with emails

Fiji
Viti Levu, the main island, is home to Fiji’s bustling capital Suva, which has plenty of colonial architecture and history. Nadi’s your jump-off point for adventures, while the Coral Coast serves up soft sand, waterfalls, and villages where you’ll be treated to an obligatory “bula!” welcome. If you’ve energy to spare, climb up to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes or raft down the Navua River.
Taveuni is dubbed the “Garden Island” – it’s dripping in lush rainforests, waterfalls, and walking trails. Vanua Levu is quieter and more rugged than its big brother Viti Levu, and it’s where you come for off-the-beaten-track exploring. Think hot springs, sugarcane plantations, and small towns like Savusavu with its laid-back vibe.
Macchu Picchu
You’ve got the iconic Inca Trail, starting from Cuzco, where you’ll huff and puff through four days of stunning mountain passes, cloud forests, and stone steps built by the ancient Incas (cheers for the leg workout). Or there’s the Salkantay Trail, which swaps out the crowds for snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and some proper wilderness vibes. You’ll be greeted with the reward of seeing Machu Picchu’s lost city reveal itself at sunrise – a moment that’s more magical than watching a Gregg’s pasty come out of the oven.
And if trekking’s not your thing? There’s always the cheeky train up from Aguas Calientes. No judgement – you’ll still get the Instagram shot. Just pack layers, bring plenty of coca leaves (they’ll save your lungs at altitude), and brace yourself for sights you’ll remember long after you’ve cleaned the mud off your boots.

Maldives
Because resorts in the Maldives are basically their own little island paradise, All Inclusive is pretty much the norm when it comes to board basis here. But it’s not just your average buffet here – depending on your type of package and the resort you’re staying at (some are more geared towards relaxation, whilst others are full on when it comes to the activities), it could include everything from food and drinks to non-motorised sports like kayaking, snorkelling, and paddleboarding, and even some spa treatments too.
Oh, and if you’re really lucky, you might just get some excursions to other islands included as well!
Mexico
Whether you’re sipping a piña colada in Cancun, swimming in infinity pools in Riviera Maya, or living it up at luxury resorts in Cabo San Lucas, it’s all indulgence, no hassle. Most resorts in Mexico take the “all inclusive” bit seriously – think gourmet dining at swanky restaurants, swim-up bars for lazy afternoons, and even activities like snorkelling, paddleboarding, or tequila tastings for when you’re feeling adventurous.
The beauty of Mexico is the variety—you can flop on white sands in Tulum, dive with sea turtles in Cozumel, or soak up views of the Pacific Ocean in Baja California. And when you’re done sunbathing, there’s ancient Mayan ruins, colourful markets, and a nightlife scene that’s as lively as a mariachi band after a few shots of mezcal.

Keeping kids happy
Dubai
The culture in Dubai has a strong focus on family, so children are at the heart of a lot of what they do. But beyond that, there’s an absolute ton for them to get up to. First up, Dubai Parks and Resorts is basically a child’s dream with four theme parks, including Motiongate and Legoland, whilst Global Village is a mix of funfair rides, food stalls, and cultural pavilions that’ll tire out the whole family.
Ski Dubai is where they can fling snowballs at each other… in the middle of the desert. Because Dubai. Meanwhile, they’ve also got Wild Wadi Waterpark and Aquaventure Waterpark to play with – the latter of which is the biggest waterpark in the world. In Dubai Mall there’s KidZania, a pint-sized city that lets kids “play adult” with jobs like doctors, pilots, and bakers. Seasonal favourite Dubai Miracle Garden is a floral wonderland of 150 million blooms, perfect for snapping photos.
Florida
Orlando is the undisputed capital of sugar-rushes and high-octane thrills—Disney World, Universal Studios, and Legoland are absolute musts for kids of all ages (and for adults pretending they’re doing it “for the kids”) Fancy swapping rollercoasters for rockets? Head over to the Kennedy Space Center where kids can gawp at real-life rockets and, if you time it right, catch an actual launch.
If you need a breather (and you will), Florida’s coastline has miles of pristine beaches, from Clearwater to Siesta Key, perfect for sandcastles and paddling. For something wilder, the Everglades offers airboat rides where kids can spot alligators skulking about. Florida’s also got its quieter corners. St. Augustine mixes history with a pirate vibe kids will love, and for underwater explorers, the Florida Keys serve up snorkelling and glass-bottom boat tours that’ll blow their minds.

Stories you can’t tell the kids
Las Vegas
Strap in, because Vegas is all about going big or going home. Start your evening with a good dose of risqué entertainment at one of Vegas’s famous burlesque shows like Fantasy or X Burlesque—cheeky and classy, with a splash of audience participation that’ll make you blush. For a glitzier affair, Absinthe delivers circus acts, acrobatics, and comedy with plenty of sass to keep you giggling all night. Head to unique bars like The Chandelier at The Cosmopolitan or try bar-hopping with a themed crawl. For something legendary, the Minus5 Ice Bar is as cool as it sounds—yes, literally everything is ice.
Finally, cap off the night at a rooftop bar like Legacy Club or one of those insane pool parties (try Encore Beach Club), where DJs spin until sunrise. Oh, and there’s always that Little White Chapel…
Bangkok
For a taste of luxury and views that’ll have you pretending you’re in a movie, head to Sky Bar at Lebua. It’s where you’ll feel like royalty, especially once you fork out for a cocktail (don’t look at the bill, just sip your drink and nod thoughtfully). If you’re more into the gritty charm of Bangkok’s Soi Cowboy or Patpong, prepare to have your senses overwhelmed by neon lights and the kind of entertainment that’ll make you wonder what just happened (and why).
For something a little calmer, The Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental is the spot for jazz, cocktails, and rubbing shoulders with the city’s elite—minus the neon. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Khao San Road for a party atmosphere where the dance floor isn’t just on the ground, it’s in the street too.
