Did you know that there’s actually a day dedicated just to those who choose to skip having kids? Yep, there is, and it just happens to be International Childfree Day TODAY.

According to this Reddit thread, asking people how they like to spend this special day of the year, some are skiing in South America with mates, some will be enjoying one (two, or three…) strawberry daquiris, and some will be beaching it up in Bali (ironically, their friends said it’d totally be something they’d do…if they didn’t have kids!)

What do we recommend you do today? Check out some of our fave adults-only stays around the world, that way next year you can really spend the day properly.

FIVE LUXE JBR, Dubai

Strictly speaking, this new resort in Dubai isn’t officially listed as ‘adults-only’, but spend 5 minutes here and you’ll see why you probably won’t be seeing many small humans running around.

Brand-spanking new and mega luxurious, FIVE LUXE JBR comes with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and the Dubai Eye, as well as a whole load of seriously opulent room options that run the gamut from panoramic sea views to private pools and hot tubs. If you’re feeling very flush, go for the suitably-named Baller Suite, replete with XL pool.

The food here is *chef’s kiss*, with Cielo and Quattro Passi serving up Italian and Mediterranean flavours, whilst Maiden Shanghai gives you an authentic Chinese dining experience. Then there’s Playa Pacha, which combines Spanish cuisine with entertainment straight from Ibiza. There’s some very well-fitted out fitness centres and spas here too, alongside the temperature-controlled infinity pool and private beach.

It’s ticking a lot of boxes already if you ask us, but where FIVE LUXE JBR really excels – its bread and butter, its PB&J, its rum and coke, if you will – is its nightlife. They know how to throw a party here, from Paradiso, voted the world’s best bar, to Pacha on JBR’s beachfront, the legendary entertainment brand’s first foray into Dubai.

You & Me by Cocoon, the Maldives

The overwater villas here might come with slides, but this is an official adults-only resort in Raa Atoll, northern Maldives. A 20-minute boatride from Ifuru Domestic Airport or 45-minute seaplane transfer from Male International Airport (and we always include transfers in our Maldives deals), You & Me Maldives has 109 villas, with a whopping 99 of them overwater.

Think rustic-chic design and handmade wooden furnishings, with rooms ranging from the Manta Villa all the way up to the exclusive You & Me Suite. There’s 6 restaurants here, the most famous being H2O by Berton – the first underwater restaurant in the Maldives with 360-degree marine views and Michelin-starred nosh. But if you don’t fancy dining aquarium style, there’s Teppanyaki fine dining and Italian cuisine up top.

It’s not aimed at families, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t loads to do here. There’s watersports and an infinity pool, and you can explore the local marine life (properly, and not with a fork in your hand) with a guided snorkelling and diving tour. There’s a spa too, which uses Elizabeth Arden PRO and HESITO products. Oh, and did we mention the slides?

If the name hadn’t already given it away, this is a perfect honeymoon hideout.

The Shore at Katathani Resort, Thailand

Nestled on the pristine Kata Noi Beach in lovely Phuket, this 5-star adults-only haven comes with private villas, each with its own infinity pool and stunning sea views. Think elegant interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows, massive bathrooms with vintage tubs, and nice little touches like Lavazza espresso machines (we love a Lavazza).

You’ve got international cuisine as well as evening tapas at the Harbor Restaurant, in an open-air setting by the pool, whilst the Lighthouse Bar and Cove wine cellar give you a choice of cocktails and fine wines.

There’s multiple pools here (including a cliff-side infinity pool), as well as a spa with steam rooms and outdoor plunge baths, and your perfect location means you’ve got direct access to Kata Noi Beach, one of Phuket’s best. There’s tranquillity, and then there’s luxury tranquillity (and no kids in sight).
