Got a flight jetting off from Manchester Airport this month? Your terminal might not be the one you’re expecting. Here’s a quick and easy rundown on what’s what when it comes to the Manchester Airport terminal changes.

To find out which airlines are moving, when they’re moving, and why they’re moving – keep on reading.

Why are they changing?

Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 has had a bit of a face-lift over the last few years. £1.3bn worth of face-lift, actually. And it all culminates in 2025 with a terminal that’ll be double its previous size and serve around 70% of all the airport’s passengers. Following the completion of Terminal 2’s face-lift, Terminal 1 will then close.

As part of this restructure, some airlines from Terminals 1 and 3 are now moving to Terminal 2 (more on that in a sec!)

The airline changes are just the latest in a whole bunch of stuff to happen to Terminal 2 in recent months. In June this year a huge, two-storey link bridge was announced, that’ll connect the existing terminal building to a new pier currently being built – this means more aircraft gates, stands, and – most important for our backsides – seating.

There’ll also be a whopping extra 27 shops, bars, and restaurants added to it, as well as a fancy new high-street style shopping area, champagne bar, and food hall.

Which airlines are changing terminals?

(and when!)

A wide range of airlines, including a fair few budget airlines, will be doing a shufty over to Terminal 2 in the next couple of months – have a look here for who and when. After their moving dates, all flights will operate from Terminal 2.

FAQ

What about my lounge booking?

If you booked your lounge directly with Manchester Airport but your flight’s now jetting off from a different terminal, then it’s pretty easy to get it switched over.

Get in touch with Manchester Airport directly here and give ’em your booking reference, flight number, and travel dates – they’ll try and get you switched over to a lounge in Terminal 2. If they aren’t able to, say if the lounges are already full for that day, then you’ll get a full refund.

If you booked through a third party, then you’ll want to head directly to them for assistance.

What about my car?

If your airline switches terminals whilst you’re away and you park up at the airport, then your wheels aren’t going to be waiting for you at Terminal 2 when you get back – a bit of a faff at the end of your holiday, but it won’t be the end of the world.

There’ll be signage in place to get you back to where you need to be, but the walk to Terminal 2 is around 15-20 minutes, so it’s a fair trek.

Can I still use my FastTrack?

If you booked FastTrack for security, then it’s nae bother because you’ll be able to use this no problem in Terminal 2 instead.
