Instagram icons: places you need to snap in the USA

Getting the perfect photographs on your holiday is a must these days. After all, why wouldn’t you want to share your snaps on social media to show off where you’ve been?

If you’re planning to book a trip to the USA this year or next, let us give you some inspiration for where to visit whilst you’re there. We’ve found the spots in the USA that are amongst the most shared on Instagram, so you’ll know that these places are the ones that will give you the most bragging rights on your social media feeds.

The best of the USA

Grand Canyon, Arizona

The team over at Adventure of a Lifetime has described the Grand Canyon as the most alien terrain they’ve ever experienced. They said: “We took a helicopter trip over and the views from the air were incredible. You get such a different perspective flying over a ridge and then BOOM, the ground falls away to reveal the canyon. We would highly recommend doing The Grand Canyon by helicopter!”. No kidding; think of the photography potential for that.

Magic Kingdom Park, Florida

You can’t fail to recognise this famous fairytale castle; it’s the Cinderella Castle located in Fantasyland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom park. It’s the symbol of the park, as well as Florida’s most Instagrammed location. Whether you come in the morning or evening, you’ll always end up with a beautiful shot, just remember to try your luck from lots of different angles.

Bellagio Las Vegas, Nevada

As Angie from Silverspoon London puts it: “The Bellagio Fountains are a must for any Vegas visit.” But then that’s hardly a surprise considering how impressive they are. Here you’ll find more than a thousand fountains dancing in front of the hotel. With the display spanning more than 1,000 feet, and water soaring as high as 460 feet into the air, it’s truly magical when you add the music and light elements too.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial, South Dakota

Nearly three million visitors each year can’t be wrong; Mount Rushmore is a great place to visit in South Dakota. This is where you should head to get an education in American history as the figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are carved into the stone. It’s hard to get a perspective on their size until you visit in person!

The White House, Washington D.C.

Victoria from The Girl on the Move knows that the White House is unmissable in Washington D.C. Why? It’s “a symbol of American unity and freedom; The White House is one of the country’s most important buildings and a must-see for any visitor to Washington D.C. Located off the leafy National Mall, along Pennsylvania Avenue, The White House is an icon of inspirational leadership, a centre of democracy and a global seat of power.”

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Take it from someone who has been there: “Yellowstone National Park is probably the most colourful and diverse nature destination in the United States”. This is what Jurga from Full Suitcase thinks. She explains: “It is home to the greatest number of geysers in the world, bubbling hot springs in all colours of the rainbow, most spectacular landscapes, and countless wildlife. Yellowstone is a true paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike. I don’t think you can find a better Instagram spot in Yellowstone than the famous Grand Prismatic spring!”

Glacier National Park, Montana

Jackie from Traveling Jackie has the insider’s scoop on this location: “In Glacier National Park, the most impressive landscapes are not limited to the rapidly disappearing glaciers. There is so much wild beauty to discover on its countless trails. It truly is a jaw-dropping, bucket-list-worthy destination, and still will be long after the glaciers are gone.”

Fenway Park, Massachusetts

One for baseball fans, Fenway Park is in Boston and is home to the Boston Red Sox. As the oldest ballpark in major league baseball, it also has its quirks as it has been renovated and expanded numerous times. If you want to grab a seat to watch a game, make sure to book one in advance as it’s the forth-smallest in MLB by seating capacity.
